Yayasan Sultan hands donation

Bandar Seri Begawan, 5 April 2013 - THE Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah handed over $100,000 to the Gaza people humanitarian fund and another $50,000 to the Philippine Bopha victims humanitarian fund yesterday.

Both contributions were presented by Chairman of the Yayasan Board of Directors, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Hj Awg Abu Bakar bin Hj Apong to the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Hazair bin Hj Abdullah.

Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah is established as a platform for charity endowment or personal contributions of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and other members of the royal family as a sign of care and love of His Majesty towards his people in creating a prosperous and harmonious community.

Meanwhile, Yayasan also contributed $2,000 to Universiti Brunei Darussalam to sponsor the registration fees for some 100 students who are financially incapable of attending the ‘International Research Seminar on Malay 2013’. The contribution was received by the Assistant Registrar of Brunei Studies Academy of Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Dk Halmyana binti Pg Md Yusof.

Another $1,397 was presented to Kg Bukit Mosque, Tutong for the purchase of an audio speaker set. One of the objectives of the establishment of Yayasan in religious field is to render assistance to mosques, suraus and religious halls in the form of financial assistance, and materials. Present to receive the contribution was the Imam of Kg Bukit Mosque, Hj Mohd Azley bin Hj Muhd Aliuddin.

Yayasan also provides contributions to those who are underprivileged such as victims of house fires. Such assistance is implemented continuously in accordance with the needs from time to time.

In this regard, Yayasan handed over a total of $21,900 to seven families whose houses were razed to the ground in separate incidents in Tutong and Belait Districts.

The two recipients from Bukit Panggal were the representatives of the late Awg Hj Tasim bin Hj Abdul Rahman and Awg Muhd Shafiee bin Uthman; Awg Md Tamin bin Salam from Kg Bukit Sibut; Dyg Ainah binti Sahat from Kg Bukit Sulang; Wong Shak Yun from Jln Tengah in Belait District; Awg Samsuddin bin Sulaiman from Sungai Mau and Dyg Rabiah binti Mat Som from Jln Kerma Negara.
